Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a trip to speak to defense personnel in the Donetsk region on the start of the week. The president confirmed that he engaged with warriors at the military base of the first unit of the state defense force Azov, which is managing protective maneuvers in the Dobropillya zone, a location approximately a short distance from Pokrovsk.

Volatile Circumstances in the Region

Geospatial data from a Ukrainian project showed that opposition armies had advanced deeper into Pokrovsk and its environs, though much of it remained beyond firm control by either side. The conditions are severe, with reports indicating that opposition troops were digging in and strengthening posts in certain areas.

Foreign Aid and Foreign Policy Changes

The federal republic plans to raise its military aid to Ukraine by a substantial amount next year to about 11.5 billion euros, the finance ministry in the German government said on the start of the week.
